Christmas tree and Sleeper {Melissa Matthews}

Does anyone have an artificial Christmas tree that they're not using anymore and wouldn't mind parting with?  Or does anyone have one they would let us borrow just for this Christmas?  We'll return it before we move.

Also...

I have a Humanity Family Sleeper that has never been used.  It's a basically a bed topper with a tootsie roll on one side to keep the baby from falling off the bed.  It's still in the plastic.  I bought it right after Tess came, but then decided I didn't need it after all.  However, I didn't get it sent back in time to get a refund.  I'm offering it for $150.  I thought I'd see if any of you ladies want it before I put it on craigslist.

Let Them Serve You! {Samye Peterson}

-Sisters-
The Activity Day girls will be participating in a service scavenger hunt on December 6th and we need your help! I am looking for service that a group of 4-7 girls can do in your home for you- washing dishes, mopping your floor, raking your yard (etc). I am looking for one service per home lasting 5-10 minutes in the Southdown, Silverlake, or Shadow Creek area (travel time needs to be a minimum hence only close subdivisions). The girls will be with a leader and come between 7 and 8 pm to hurry and do their task. The task must be checked by you and then the girls will receive their next service that they must go do at another home.

We are focusing on the act of serving this next Tuesday, so please let us serve you! If you could let me know using this email: silverlakeactivitydays@gmail.com by THIS SUNDAY I would appreciate it!! I will let you know if your service is being used and more details!

Thanks Again-
Samye Peterson

Lost Bag {Anna Low}

Did anyone pick up a brown leather bag full of kid books, diapers and wipes and such?  My husband left it at church last week and we cannot find it.

Thanks,
Anna

(Don't miss the playgroup schedule posted below!!)

Play group this month

Here is the schedule for play group this month. Anyone is welcome to come and visit!

Nov. 7th:  Morgan Rd Park--located on the corner of Southfork and Morgan Rd. in Silverlake

Nov. 14th:  Southdown Park (not the spray park or the Northampton park)--on the corner of Southdown Dr. and Lambeth by the Southdown pool
Nov. 21st:  Tom Bass Park--drive down Cullen away from Silverlake.  The turn in will be on the left at a stop light.  We just park in that big parking lot and got to the closest playground, it's orange and green.
Nov. 28th:  Lakes of Savannah--drive down 288 to the exit for 6, turn right, drive to Lakes of Savannah, turn into the subdivision and you can see the park on the left, just drive around the water feature and club house.

We technically start meeting at 10am but people filter in and so someone's usually there until 1 or so.

Please contact Loni Jenks if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Bookcases

This is from Tricia Campbell’s sister-in-law. Please contact Tricia if you are interested.

I hope this email finds you well.

We bought two bookshelves from IKEA in August. After much deliberation we have decided that they are simply too big for the space we intended them. We are hoping to sell the set for $100.00. We purchased the shelves for $90.00 each. They are in great condition, and have hardly been used. Please let me know if you are interested in them. I hope we can find a home for them. Have a great day.
There is a picture attached.

Thanks!

Loni's White Chicken Chili Recipe

"It's a great crowd pleasing, family feeding meal. For those of you old timers out there, I made it for that chili cook-off we had a couple of years ago. It won some sort of award, just FYI. :)"

White Chicken Chili/Soup

Adapted by Loni Jenks from the BYU Cooking Class Recipe Book by Janet
Stocks

3-4 cans great northern white beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 lb. bacon, diced and cooked
1-2 cups of mild salsa
3-4 chicken breasts
8 oz. shredded pepper jack cheese
Chicken stock

Cook the chicken with half the salsa, either in a pot or a slow cooker, then shred
it. Cook the bacon (I like to bake mine in the oven on a cookie sheet lined with
parchment paper because to clean up you just have to wait for the grease to
cool, roll it all up to and throw it away!).

Combine all the ingredients, except the cheese, in a heavy pot or slow cooker.
Add chicken stock as desired to loosen it up. Simmer over medium heat for 15
minutes or so (for a slow cooker about an hour) until ingredients are warmed
through. Stir in the cheese and simmer a little while longer until it's melted. Add
any additional chicken stock to make it your desired consistency.

Serve with tortilla chips.

URGENT NEED

Dear Sisters,
We just were contacted by Dawn Davis, with the Laura Recovery Center, they work to find missing children and adults. They just began a search for an LDS sister from the Pasadena area. However, this touches us close to home because her daughter is a member of the Friendswood 2 Ward.
Lillian is 82 years old and works at the Chase Bank right by the AMC at Beltway 8 and 45 freeway. She went missing yesterday morning, so the Laura Recovery center has their RV in the parking lot of the AMC theatres and is in desparate need of volunteers.
The volunteers will be handing out fliers in the surrounding area (businesses etc.) Until 6 p.m. tonight. Even if you can only help an hour or two, we need your help.
Please forward this email to all your sisters TODAY. The Laura Recovery Center can use male or female volunteers that are at least 18 years or older.
If you have any questions, contact Dawn Davis, at 281-785-1268.
Please join me in doing all we can to help find this dear sister.
Thanks for all you do!
Sister Young

Twin Bed from Paola Brown

Paola Brown is getting rid of the twin bed, box spring (not mattress), and faux-leather headboard...40 bucks takes it all. The picture shows 2 beds, but just one is being sold; also, the bed seems raised, but that is because we use those raising blocks (similar to this one: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=13262713&RN=433&BTSMode=true). Finally, the head board actually hangs on the wall via a wall fixture; you then push the bed up against the head board. Fixtures are included, of course.

Items from Karen Snow

I have some dishes we no longer need.  They are off-white, 8 years old and originally from Target.  It is a 6 piece set of dinner plates, smaller plates, bowls and mugs.  We will throw in an extra saucer and bowl for free!!  (Ok, so it used to be an eight piece set and we have an odd number remaining)

We also have a mirror that came from above a bathroom sink.  It is unframed and has a beveled edge.

You can pay me for either item by a dessert, please. =)

Contact me by email,
Karen

Walking Group

From Sarah May:

I was thinking of starting up a "walking" group. I know there are a lot of runners in the ward, but I'm not one of them! I would love to get in another walk during the week...probably in the evening...but it's getting darker earlier, so going alone isn't ideal.
Is there anyone interested in walking with Sarah on a regular basis? You can either leave a comment here or contact her directly.

Thanks!

Welcome!

Hello Silverlake RS sisters,

Welcome to our new blog!  This blog will be used for all non-church business, including: items needed, to sell or give away; non-church related activities (home or business parties, etc.); and to share photos from our various gatherings. If you have anything you would like to have posted, please email Sara Johnson or the Relief Society email (silverlakewardrs@gmail.com) with your detailed info and any pictures (if necessary).

We have sincerely appreciated all communication that has been shared in the past through our email list. It is wonderful to stay in contact with all our sisters. To simplify and streamline our communication we have created this blog to eliminate the use the RS email list for mass communication. We are also looking into creating a Facebook page to facilitate more rapid responses for more timely issues. So keep your eyes open for that!

All Relief Society-related business will continue to be emailed out weekly, through the newsletter or as necessary.

You should have received an updated contact list recently. We will not be posting any contact information on this blog for security reasons. If you need to contact an individual, please refer to the Relief Society directory.

We love you and are looking forward to hearing from you!
